11/4 Tuesday Afternoons with Christy

Hello praisers!! Christy (AquaRuby) here!! I am excited to be a part of the Genuine Praisers here. I've been trying to decide what to type for a few days. I love this idea that Lori has about leaving honest, sincere praise. It seems many of us are guilty of the typical 'Love this page' or 'Gorgeous LO' -- myself included. I get busy and do enjoy the pages I see. I actually do try to leave sincere praise for pages, because that is exactly what I want. I have been scrapbooking now for almost 11 years. I feel like an old hat here. LOL! But today I want to focus a bit on journaling. That was what struck me as I was glancing through the pages in Mr. Linky. The page that really stuck out to me was Melissa's 'I Scrap' page -- check it out:

Isn't this awesome. I bet a lot of us feel the same passion for why we scrap. I know I do.

Now this next LO by DisneyCruiser really caught my eye. I think it's a combination of that sweet messy face and the fun way she added all her journaling.

I am leaving you with this last LO of mine, it explains my username. I thought you might like to know the story behind my username.
http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=437751

Incase you can't read my journaling, it says that I use this name on digital scrapbook sites. I usually try to register with my real name, but it is usually taken. So I came up with AquaRuby. It comes from the birthstone of my kids. Two were born in March and their stone is aquamarine. My other two were born in July and their stone is the ruby -- so I mashed it together to make aquaruby. :)

Oh and before I forget, Lori wanted me to let you know that the rules of the contest have changed just a bit due to the problems with some galleries. Any LO that you link this week to Mr. Linky will get you entered, you don't have to do it daily now. Have fun praisers!!

11/3/2008 Monday's Featured Layouts

Lori here! Happy belated Digital Scrapbooking Day! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did and I look forward to see you play with your new goodies this week.
November is officially here and the year has flown by! This month I am planning on working on my documentation skills. With two journaling classes being offered in our community, I am gonna be a busy bee with my new pens. Thats right I will be doing Jessica Sprague's Stories in Hand class and Listmania being offered at We Are Storytellers. I encourage you to sign up for one. Stories in Hand is free of charge so drop by and sign up. http://www.jessicasprague.com/
Now if you think you would like to do both here is a special chance for you to do List Mania on me. http://wearestorytellers.typepad.com/

This week link a layout here daily, Monday through Friday, and leave love for other layouts you find in Mr Linky. Dont forget to leave thoughtful, genuine comments. On Friday we will see who has played daily and randomly choose a winner of a ten dollar giftcard to We Are Storytellers. So that should make it easier to leave some genuine love around here. Dont forget if you have not scrapped you can link an old layout or a layout you happen to like from someone else.
Which brings me to my layouts of the day! I ran into a touching layout this weekend at DST that I had to fave to show you. Let me get it!
Here is Ace's Wild with
IVF journey
This layout takes us through Jackie's journey in which she became a mother! She has done a very good job conveying her story in a simple way. I just found it touching when I saw it so lets leave her some love!
Next up is Stephk with
Wonderful Fairytale
This layout sure caught my eye. I love the BG paper and the journaling placement. I think it has just the right amount of elements and journaling to create a balance I enjoy. I am very much the journal on every page type so I enjoy a good example of how to get the story on there without taking the focus off the design! Nice job Steph!
Ok, I have kept you long enough! Look out for our new blog authors this week. And shout about our contest and blog to your friends. Have a great week!

I picked this layout for its Halloween colors. It just jumped right at me in the gallery! First of all the colors match today so well, but once I opened it I smiled. I can almost hear the laughter and it makes me want to go snuggle my little one with a cute laugh. I also love how the photos are able to make the layout with not many words. The design is cool too. Love the long photo and circle strings!
Well, gotta go Happy Halloween. If u stop by please leave love forour featured layouts I appreciate it!

Featured Layouts - 10/30/08

Melissa here with our Wednesday featured layouts. Usually we would feature a layout that was linked up in Mr. Linky at the top of the page, however, yesterday was another slow day so I chose two right from DST.

First up is a layout from novita

Scary Costume
http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=464164&cat=all&limit=all

I love everything about this layout! I really love her attention to detail, the little spiders scattered throughout the layout and how her photos really pop against the dark background. She has truly given this a "scary" feel - perfect for Halloween. Be sure to visit her layout at DST and let her know how great of a job she did!

Next we have a LO from beckiewallace

Believe

http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=464045&cat=all&limit=all

This layout is almost on the complete other spectrum of the first. I love how this has sort of a dreamy feeling to it. The softness of the photo, neutral background, the added sparkle throughout all help create that feeling. And what a cute little one that is in the photo. Be sure to visit her layout at DST also and leave some love.

Don't forget to add a link to your layout in Mr. Linky. The button is located right under the blog header. You never know, your layout may be our feature tomorrow!

Featured Layouts - 10/29/08

Hi! Lori here. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for Melissa's first day as our blog author. I look forward to sharing this praise space with her. Mr. Linky faired better yesterday so I will feature a layout from there.

First up. Aquaruby shared
Jackson's Orchard
This layout contains so many important aspects of scrapping to me. The story, the pictures and the pretty design. I also enjoyed learning something new about Christy. I have been seeing her around the digital community for a little while now and I had no idea she homeschooled. Overall she just did an excellent job preserving her family trip to the orchard and I am confident she captured the moment well enough to keep it alive for years to come. Great job and thanks for sharing here.

Next up is Star74 with
Out of this world
What a creative and artistic layout. I really appreciate the shadowing she accomplished here. I myself have trouble with the dark background shadowing and she was able to really emphasize the shadows and make her elements pop right off the page. Excellent work girlie!
Ok thats it for today.
Make it a great day!
Thanks Lori!

Tuesday's Featured Layouts

Hey all! It's Melissa here and you have the privilege to read my very first post here on the Genuine Praise blog.

First, a little introduction - I am a full time working mother of 3 wonderful boys (9 yrs, 6 yrs, and 8 months) and married for 11 years to my wonderful DH. I am fairly new to digi scrapping. My first LO was in August and I have been going non-stop since.

Mr. Linky has been a little slow lately so I decided to feature a couple of layouts right from DST.

First off is a layout by mrs2a50:

Pokey Little Puppy

http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=462715&cat=all&limit=all

I just love how clean this layout is with the white background and how the picture and elements just pop out and grab your attention. Her choice of kit is great as the color scheme of the elements go perfectly with the colors in her photo. And how stinkin cute is that puppy!?! Be sure to stop by DST and leave her some lovin on how great this LO is!

Next LO is by iscraptoo:

Baby Feet
http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=462706&cat=all&limit=all

I think that this LO appealed to me because I am such a sucker for little baby feet. I love the photo in this LO. I really wanted to get a picture like this with my youngest, however my hands were so swollen there was no way my ring was coming off. She has paired that wonderful photo with soft neutral colors and added just the right pop with the red. And what a coincidence - her niece's name is the same as my youngest son's. Be sure to stop by and leave her some great love as well.

Thanks for stopping in today. Make sure you take a second and post a layout of yours in Mr. Linky at the top of the page and try and leave some heartfelt love for some of the other layouts in there. Together we can spread the kinda love that everyone loves to get - the kind that comes straight from the heart!

Happy Monday!

Hey girlies!
Sorry I did not post yesterday. I decided to take a day off from the blog. Tomorrow look out for a new blog author, Melissa, to join is. She is aka Melmos, and you have probably noticed her leaving love here.
Ok I will get to the layouts!
First up is Mommyspice with
"Waiting"

This is such a lovely layout. The theme is so great. W for waiting! The journaling tells me that her and her friends are strong, smart women supporting one another. That story really brings the layout home for me on top of her great design! Nice job! Thanks for sharing with us!
Now lets see I will find a random layout for today!
This layout is by inskidahv and is titled
Splish! Splash! Pool!
I have said it before and I will say it again I am just all over summer! This layout screamed summertime fun to me from the gallery and I just had to share it with you. Every single aspect of this page symbolizes family fun at its finest. The bright colors and fun photos tell the by the pool story and I see she included journaling, which always completes a layout for me.
Alright, thanks for joining us today! Make it a great day!
Look out for Melissa tomorrow!
